Even though research continues to push for changes that improve recycling and sustainability measures, the problem of waste persists. Unseparated waste — also known as “zero” or “negative value waste” — keeps the cost of waste transformation too high, in large part due to sorting and processing inefficiencies. The only way that we can challenge the status quo is by confronting it with alternatives.

We are designing a better ecosystem to stimulate both supply and demand for recyclable materials. WasteWorks makes it easier and rewarding to recycle materials and products.

SCRAPS brings users together to create value in ways that are beyond the capacity of any single entity. Focusing primarily on developing countries, we facilitate transformation of mismanaged waste on a massive scale through the use of our technology. SCRAPS incentivizes waste separation at the source, making it easier and affordable for transformation companies to solve costly sourcing challenges, as well as creating social and economic impact for waste collectors and communities.

How it Works

Waste transformation companies submit orders for customized waste.

Waste providers receive notification that a specific type of waste is in demand, and each unit of measure is worth a set value. Waste Providers are incentivized to sort their trash.

Waste Transporters are dispatched to collect from Waste Providers, fulfilling orders made by the waste transformation companies.

All of these interactions are facilitated by SCRAPS and occur on the local market, promoting local production, consumption, and transformation.
